Are corn, beans, rice and a no-no at Easter? What's Mate coffee powder?
I know it was an ancient custom adopted a few hundred years ago, because these (apart from CoffeeMate) were stored next to non-kosher (for Passover) food, but I've also heard that the rabbis of Israel says it's okay now. "Where is it? I'm not ultra-orthodox, but I will not eat anything forbidden none-the-less. How important is it to put aside these food? Are they really yeast?
Unless one is Sephardic, the answer is no maize, rice and legumes. I do not know about Coffee Mate. In general, commercial products that are kosher supervision will also have an additional mark for Easter with the letter "P" next to the kosher symbol. Although not kosher for Passover, I am sure that there is (very good) substitutes manufactured by other companies that cater to the kosher for Passover "on the market.
