Dark Roast

Dark Roast

The coffee cup only concerns the type of coffee that is produced from single-serve pods or containers – usually using single cup coffee makers specific brand or type of container. Currently there are five types or formats – Coffee Pods, Tassimo T Discs, Keurig K Cups, Nespresso Capsules, Tassimo capsules, as explain below.

First though, the common features …

They allow you to brew a cup of coffee Indeed, with only a minimum of waiting time and minimal preparation and attention it requires.

Individual takes the coffee cup eliminates the need Grinding your own beans and reduces the actions that ensure that enough water in the machine, start up, then hot (usually only it takes a minute) the insertion of the sheath / capsule / disc and pressing a button to produce the coffee.

The machines also are typically very compact, so it does not take too much space on the countertop or on your desktop! One thing to note is that it is typically the only machines higher range can produce a real espresso, which is usually accepted as a pressure of 9 bars or more, but people can find drinks produced by the machines perfectly acceptable, whereas it is extremely easy to use.

As mentioned above, the cup of coffee only comes in five main forms:

  • Coffee Pods – Although these are the most common, interchangeable option, you need not be aware that the pod size 'standard' is the size of 62mm, since there are 44mm and 55mm pods / machines. If we stick to the 62 mm machine, such as Philips Senseo single cup coffee makers or range Krups Home Cafe, you find that you have the widest range of options, both producers markers of the single cup of coffee and independent sources. – A major source for this type of coffee pod is the range of Senseo Douwe Egberts, currently has a number of sub-channels, covering the traditional strengths such as decaffeinated coffee, Medium Roast, Dark Roast and Expresso mixtures as Sumatra Blend, Brazil Blend, Kenya and Colombia Blend Blend, along with other flavors such as Breakfast Blend, Creme Brulee, chocolate and Paris (French vanilla).
  • Tassimo T Discs – These work with range of Tassimo single cup coffee makers, which are capable of reading the bar code on the discs, allowing the machine to adjust their treatment according to specific needs of the selected disk, including the possibility of using a disk of "milk" to make cappuccinos, etc – The Tassimo system takes advantage of the ability to adjust the treatment according to the particular needs of the drink selected, so it is capable of delivering a range of beverages high quality coffees, coffee cream, real milk cappuccinos and lattes, coffees, chocolates and even tea.
  • Keurig K Cups – These work with Keurig single-rank responsible for the coffee cup and the match between the discs and T dose of coffee, which is more or variations of flavors available for disks of T, but less than the format is 'open' Coffee Pod. – Keurig have been associated with a number of independent companies to offer a wide range of K-Cup varieties, including sources of coffee as Green Mountain Coffee, Diedrich Coffee Roasters and Timothy Van Houtte, Marks, such as tea, Celestial Seasonings, Bigelow and Twinings. They have a great variety of mixes, covering categories including Extra Bold Roast (coffee 30% more beer), Dark, Medium & Light roast, flavored, decaf, Fair Trade Certified and Organicm well as teas and Hot Cocoa.
  • Nespresso Capsules – As expected by now, work only with the Nespresso capsules responsible for the Nespresso coffee, unique, with the difference here is that these are machines that can provide real espresso, using pressures in excess the minimum accepted 9 BAR to force water through ground coffee. – One thing to consider with the Nespresso system is that while the Nespresso machines are available at various points of sale, the Nespresso capsules are not, but rather must be purchased directly from Nespresso, either online, by phone or email mail or in Nespresso boutiques. As a result, the "operating costs tend to be somewhat higher than for other systems, which may be necessary to consider before buying a single cup of Nespresso coffee maker.
  • NescafĂ© Dolce Gusto Capsules – These are relatively new to the market, but are supported by Nescafe and Krups. There is some overlap between the range of NescafĂ© and Nespresso this range, but the focus of the range of taste Dole seems to be in the market national cup and allow a wide range of espresso drinks fair, which is the focus of the Nespresso. – Dolce Gusto capsules range include American Coffee, Mocha, Espresso, Chococino, Cappuccino and variations, as Delgado and Cappuccino Cappuccino Ice.

The Nespresso range is probably the choice for true enthusiasts, although the range of Tassimo also uses a professional system at 15 bar pressure and worth considering. If the new single cup coffee makers, however, it is worth starting with a coffee pod, like the Philips Senseo before seeing if investing in a more expensive system is necessary.

By Finally, some advice – The results of all systems can often improve if you are able to ensure that your cup is heated before adding the coffee – Give it a try!
